Holidays in Lanzarote

As a part of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote has to be a great place for a holiday. Luckily it doesn’t disappoint, offering its visitors a great climate with just 16 day of rain a year on average, a welcoming atmosphere and amenities designed to ensure you have a great holiday. Famed for its beautiful beaches and laid back mood, Lanzarote is the perfect place for those who just want to relax in the sunshine with their nearest and dearest, families looking to keep everyone happy and even groups of friends seeking beautiful surroundings where they can recharge their batteries and perhaps even fit in the odd night out on the town.

Lanzarote - Theme Parks and Attractions

For its youngest visitors or even those who are just young at heart, Lanzarote provides a number of amenities which will keep everyone happy. The first of these, which is a must see for every visitor is the Timanfaya National Park. This Park showcases the lunar landscape that Lanzarote is famed for, which occurred in the 17th and 18th century when volcanoes erupted leaving behind photo opportunities aplenty for tourists.

For another natural wonder that Lanzarote has to offer you might want to investigate Los Hervideros: a formation of caves and blowholes which create a fantastic illusion of boiling water. For a time honoured day out there are of course the usual attractions, including a zoo and a water park full of thrills, spills, rides and slides.

For the children who are a little young for adrenaline rush there is Pardelas Park, we defy you to find a child who wouldn’t love this place, full of animals which the children can pet and feed, craft activities which can be showed off to friends at home and even donkey rides. On the subject of riding there is Lanzarote a Caballo, a stables featuring horses and camels to ride, paintballing to settle those arguments from home about who should take out the bins, a playground for the children and restaurants for when you want to refuel.

With all of this on offer you might not even get to sample the beautiful beaches on offer in Lanzarote, which range from secluded bays with white sands and shallows waters to bustling swathes of sand and glorious sea, a perfect place to indulge in some water sports, including windsurfing and scuba diving. All of these great activities are available in Lanzarote and we haven’t even mentioned the golf, tennis, shopping, bars or restaurants!

Lanzarote - Resort Guides

Costa Teguise is a fantastic, family friendly resort, offering a selection of amenities promising to keep guests of all ages satisfied. Of course first and foremost on any tourists list has to be the beach and Costa Teguise rather helpfully provides three of those, so pick a beach, pick a spot and relax or alternatively try some of the water sports mentioned above. Another activity available in Costa Teguise is golf, which if you’re used to trudging along in the rain on a Saturday afternoon at home, should be blissful: let the sun beat down on you and picture your poor colleagues sat in the office right now. For those who show no interest in the links there is shopping to be done, including markets proffering handmade jewellery, pottery and traditional lace and shopping centres with a wider range of goods all available at great prices.

Playa Blanca is another of the beautiful resorts Lanzarote has to offer, with gorgeous beaches, plenty of amenities and a great atmosphere. The beaches all boast fine white sands and gently shelving water which is perfect for anxious parents with young children who just can’t wait to get in to the sea. The adults can feel free to indulge in some water sports if they want or alternatively just top up on that tan. The area also boasts a new marina which is the glitzier end of town, full of trendy bars and chic boutiques, the perfect way to while away an afternoon. When the sun dips beyond the horizon the resort of Playa Blanca doesn’t shut down, there are a number of beautiful restaurants, welcoming bars and late closing nightclubs where you are sure to find a perfect way to end your day.

Puerto del Carmen is the largest resort in Lanzarote and has the amenities to prove it. It hasn’t lost any of its charms though, with a number of beaches which stretch on for miles and all of them being awarded the Blue Flag, meaning you can relax on the sands or in the sea without worrying about anything. As with most tourist destinations the beach does offer water sports though participation is not mandatory so you can feel free to ignore those active participators, stick on the iPod and relax. For more active pursuits there are a number of shopping facilities in Puerto del Carmen, so whether you’re picking up a little something for yourself of treating those back at home, you’re sure to find a bargain. The evenings are fun filled in Puerto del Carmen too as there are a number of bars and restaurants eager to be your host for the night and a selection of discos and nightclubs where you can cut loose and strut your stuff on the dance floor.
