Known as the Golden Coast, Costa Dorada, based on the East Coast of Spain, offers everything needed for a perfect beach holiday. Encompassing mile upon mile of golden sands, this beautiful area of Spain is fantastic for those looking to do nothing more energetic than turning over on a sun lounger during their holiday.

The areas surrounding the resorts are well worth a look too, with a number of Roman ruins and fantastic scenery which are perfect for those days when you want to get out and explore the area at large.
Food could be a key draw for this area to with traditional Catalonian cuisine, typically fish as you would expect, available in cosy restaurants. One evening has to involve sampling the Catalonian classic: paella, which puts all others in the shade. Fundamentally Costa Dorada offers a fine mixture of amenities, perfectly blended to suit everyone.
Portaventura, located in Salou, is the largest theme park in Spain. Devised as the Spanish version of Euro Disney this family friendly park offers a little something for everyone. For those with a sense of adventure and a strong stomach there are thrills galore on some of the more extreme rides, in particular Dragon Khan!
For those who’d like to keep things a little more sedate there are a number of rides more suited for you, including Rapids and Bumper Cars. As height restrictions apply there are rides specifically designed for the younger children and even small roller-coasters for the toddlers, so they won’t feel left out. Portaventura also provides a water park for those who would rather stay away from the scarier rides, with log flumes, slides and chutes for all ages.
There are also a number of restaurants (might want to check these out after you’ve been on Dragon Khan!), shows full of music, razzle dazzle and glittering costumes and even shops perfect for souvenirs.
Portaventura is the largest theme park in the area but there are many other entertainment options available, a lot of which are located by the beaches. The outdoor playgrounds, classes and activities provided at the busiest beaches are perfect for those with young children to entertain, whilst some beaches even provide open air cinemas showing family friendly films.

Cambrils as with Salou, provides sand and sea aplenty, a family friendly atmosphere and great weather. Cambrils is quieter than Salou, providing extra relaxation for those who want to recharge their batteries. The area boasts fantastic food, both traditional and international and a number of chic bars and nightclubs where you can let down your hair and throw some shapes on the dance floor.
Cambrils is within easy reach of the city of Tarragona, which though not suited for a two week holiday could be perfect for a mini break within your summer holiday. The highlights of Tarragona are the Roman ruins here, an excellent way to spend an afternoon or you can shop for keepsakes amongst the winding city streets.
La Pineda as with the other resorts is perfect for a beach friendly holiday, offering golden sands and clear waters.
